Welcome to Birth Moments Doula
The birth and arrival of a new baby is the most life changing roller coaster ride you are likely to experience. At the same time the journey can be scary and overwhelming.
In our modern society families are
geographically
further apart and support for a woman and her partner at this time needs to come from others outside of the family unit. As well as family and friends this is where a Doula can help.
Research from ‘Mothering the Mother’ Klaus, Kennell & Klaus (1993) showed that having a doula supporting you through the labour and birth process can lead to:
• 25% Shorter Labour
• 50% Reduction in Caesarean section
• 60% Reduction in epidural request
• 30% Reduction in analgesia use
• 40% Reduction in forceps delivery

A doula is not medically qualified but is there to offer physical, emotional and informative support to a woman and her partner at this special time to help them find the decisions that best suit them.
A Doula can also offer assistance post-natally when your new
arrival has arrived
safely into the world. This can be emotional, practical or informative support in your own home and to suit your family.
IN NO WAY IS A DOULA THERE TO TAKE THE PLACE OF YOUR MIDWIFE OR GP. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS ABOUT THE HEALTH OF YOURSELF OR YOUR BABY PLEASE CONTACT THEM IN THE FIRST INSTANCE.
